Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences

Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences The position plays a critical role in the training of veterinary students by providing expertise in clinical specialties, contributing to clinical science lectures and laboratories, problem‑based learning facilitation, and curriculum development. The role also involves engaging in scholarly activities, advancing clinical sciences, and supporting the training of students across all levels of the DVM program. Additionally, the position requires active participation in college and university committees and contributing to institutional governance and curriculum innovation. If applicable, maintaining a California veterinary license and any relevant specialty certifications is also expected. Responsibilities Contribute to the training of veterinary students in foundational and clinical sciences, including participation in curricular activities for Year 1 and 2 students (content expertise, facilitation of problem‑based learning activities, foundational science lectures & laboratories, skills development, and other ancillary activities). Provide leadership and instruction for Year 3 and 4 courses and activities, including supervision of Core and Selective Rotations. Pursue self‑sustaining research programs and participate in the development of post‑DVM training programs. Mentor veterinary students in research and participate in local, national, and international continuing education programs. Engage in college and university committees and represent the college externally (e.g., funding agencies). Maintain a California veterinary license and any specialty board certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent oral communication with administration, faculty, staff, students, and outside contacts. Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information. Strong organizational skills for prioritizing workload and delegating responsibilities. Knowledge of contemporary veterinary educational needs. Knowledge and skills in the applicable discipline. Commitment to an organization that values and promotes humanism. Required Qualifications Advanced degree (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine [DVM], VMD), PhD, or equivalent in the discipline of expertise. Actively licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Veterinarian in California (preferred). Current veterinary specialty board certification preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience contributing to self‑sustaining research programs. Experience contributing to the development of post‑DVM training programs and local/national continuing education programs.
