Accountant I Salary Grade: G09 Minimum: $56,217 Midpoint: $74,487 Maximum: $92,758 Position requires a credit background check prior to hiring, promotion, or transfer. Summary Under direct supervision, applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules. Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports. Summarizes and interprets current and projected company financial position for other managers. Audits contracts, orders, vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement. Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures. Devises and implements system for general accounting. Competencies Knowledge of and ability to apply practical accounting concepts. Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information. Ability to skillfully gather and analyze information. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree from four‑year college or university with zero to one year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before employees. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions. Analysis & Problem‑Solving: Ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, interpret variety of materials. Computer Skills: Working knowledge of accounting software. Physical Demands Employee must regularly sit up to 2/3 of the time and occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds. Work Environment Office environment. Accountant II Salary Grade: G08 Minimum: $64,087 Midpoint: $84,916 Maximum: $105,744 Position requires a credit background check prior to hiring, promotion, or transfer. Summary Under direct supervision, applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules. Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports. Summarizes and interprets current and projected company financial position for other managers. Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement. Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits. Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures. Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures. Devises and implements system for general accounting. Makes recommendations regarding accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures. Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation. Competencies Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced accounting concepts. Ability to synthesize complex information, collect and research data, use intuition and experience to complement data, design workflows and procedures. Ability to identify and resolve problems, gather and analyze information skillfully, develop alternative solutions, work well in group problem solving situations. Minimum Education And/Or Experience Bachelor's degree from four‑year college or university with one to three years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
