Clinical Director - Trauma Recovery Center

GENERAL SUMMARY: This leadership position oversees clinical, training, educational, and research services for the Henry Ford Health Trauma Recovery Center (TRC). It involves developing and implementing standards for comprehensive, evidence- and trauma-informed, culturally responsive services while maintaining fidelity to the TRC model. The role serves as the clinical leader, providing supervisory and consultative support to staff, ensuring ongoing training, and collaborating with the Program Manager on administrative direction, strategic planning, financial performance, operations, staffing, quality, and satisfaction. It also leads the development of community partnerships and represents the TRC at local, state, and system levels. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Direct patient care to survivors of trauma and crime. Administers and interprets appropriate diagnostic instruments to determine the patient’s level of cognitive, psychological, emotional, and behavioral functioning, including adjustment to injury/illness. Plans appropriate provision of care based on evaluation results, patient/family goals and values, sound clinical judgement, and other pertinent information. Provides trauma- and evidence-informed, culturally responsive treatment including individual, conjoint, family, group, and didactic (as qualified), ensuring the treatment plan is age-appropriate and adjusted as necessary. Communicates with team members, professionals, family members, and caregivers to share information that assists in achieving optimum care. Ensures timely access for patient appointments in accordance with clinic expectations and standards. Completes all clinical documentation timely, in accordance with state, federal, and Henry Ford Medical Group standards. Provides ongoing weekly consultation to licensed psychological and social work staff to ensure quality care, and supervises limited license staff. Collaborates with Program Manager to provide performance feedback for clinical staff through chart review, treatment observation, and reviews. Participates in weekly case conferences, treatment team meetings, and staff self-care programs. Develops and maintains new-hire training and clinical standards as well as comprehensive orientation. Ensures a productive schedule with direct clinical care. Upholds system policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance. Collaborates with Program Manager on staffing, recruitment, hiring, and program development. Participates in program promotion, marketing, and philanthropy activities as needed. Prepares clinical reports and identifies data required for quality assurance indicators. Participates in department meetings, in-services, and continuing education programs. Evaluates risk management issues with the Program Manager and Risk Management and facilitates resolution. Ensures accurate medical records and documentation reflecting treatment. Maintains specialization in evidence-informed practices for diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of adult survivors of trauma and crime. Designs, develops, and implements protocols for assessment and treatment of survivors of all ages. Leads development and expansion of program and clinical guidelines, care pathways, and workflow innovations. Ensures fidelity to the TRC model and collaborates with the National Alliance of Trauma Recovery Centers. Establishes professional development and continuing education priorities through needs assessments and staff feedback. Participates in system-wide committees, groups, and quality initiatives. Participates in education through didactic presentations or supervision of trainees as qualified. Expands knowledge base and field of trauma and survivorship through research and dissemination. Time allocation and breakdown is general in nature and subject to change based on programmatic and clinical needs, patient volumes. Education/Experience Required Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited program. Completion of APA accredited internship. Completion of post-doctoral fellowship with specialization in clinical psychology or behavioral medicine preferred. Must have training/specialization with trauma-informed care and trauma populations in an ambulatory clinical setting. Research design and grant writing experience preferred. Certifications/Licensures Required Fully Licensed Psychologist in the State of Michigan.
