** 26 - 27 School-Based Occupational Therapist (OTR), Part-Time/Full-Time **

• $45-$55 per hour based on experience

• South Austin suburbs

** Primary Purpose: **

Conduct school-based evaluations, write treatment plans including report and goals, provide direct occupational therapy services in school districts with students aged 3-21, write progress reports, attend ARD meetings, supervise COTA

** Education/Certification: **

Master's degree in occupational therapy or equivalent

Valid Texas license as an occupational therapy issued by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE)

** Experience: **

One year experience in a school-based OT position (preferred)

** Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: **

Ability to plan and implement occupational therapy treatment programs

Ability to complete standardized occupational therapy assessments

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

Ability to supervise COTA

Bilingual (preferred)

** Major Responsibilities and Duties: **

1. Conduct evaluations with students who have disabilities to determine their eligibility for services.

2. Based on the results of the evaluation, create unique treatment plans with goals and objectives that are tailored to each student.

3. Give students occupational therapy sessions in both individual and group settings, using evidence-based strategies to enhance their functional capacities.

4. Assist with instructing teachers, staff, and parents in use of adaptive equipment, assistive technology programs or devices, and integration of therapy goals into the educational program

5. Interact with student patient regarding patient's condition, progress, and/or achievement of goals during each treatment session

6. Communicate with parents regarding individual students

7. Attend planning meetings and participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARD) meetings

8. Assist with acquisition and maintenance of therapy equipment and supplies

9. Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other documents required including accurate student records and patient progress notes

10. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiner, State Board of Education rule, and board policy

11. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations

12. Maintain confidentiality

13. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures

** Supervisory Responsibilities: ** Supervision of a COTA

** Tools/Equipment Used: ** Special needs adaptive equipment

** Posture: ** Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting

** Lifting: ** Possible heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and position of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting non-ambulatory students
