Position Summary

The Director of Health Information Technology (HIT) provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization's Health Information Technology department. Reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer (CINO), this position oversees the administration, optimization, integration, and support of patient, provider, and operational technology solutions that enhance the patient experience and improve organizational performance. The Director leads cross-functional initiatives, manages system implementations, and partners with executive leadership, department leaders, and Information Technology to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives and operational needs. This role oversees workflow optimization, system integration, vendor relationships, data integrity, application support, and business process improvement while supporting informed decision-making through analytics and reporting. The Director provides leadership to the HIT team, removes barriers to project success, and collaborates across the organization to ensure technology solutions are innovative, effective, and aligned with the organization's strategic goals.

MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree required in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Two (2) or more years of leadership experience in Health Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Information Systems, or a related healthcare technology environment.

• Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and implement innovative technology and automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance the patient and provider experience, and support organizational goals.

• Strong knowledge of healthcare information systems, system integrations, workflows, and technology implementations.

• Understanding of interoperability standards and integration methodologies.

• Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR), practice management, and patient-facing technology solutions.

• Experience with project governance, process improvement, and operational optimization.

• Ability to analyze complex business and technical issues and develop practical solutions.

• Strong understanding of data integrity, reporting, and analytics to support operational decision-making.

• Excellent leadership, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple initiatives while managing competing organizational priorities.

• Commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and professional development.

• Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license, maintain current vehicle registration and automobile insurance, and be able to travel between SDMI locations as needed.

• Skill in organizing time to accommodate changes in workload and assignments in order to complete tasks in a timely manner.

• Skill to pay attention to details and accuracy in completing tasks.

• Respond positively to changes in assignments and priorities.

• Takes full responsibility for all functions within job description and assures that all functions are completed before leaving SDMI at the end of the shift.

• Communicates effectively when follow up is needed.
