VP Finance / Corporate Controller | PE-Backed SaaS | New York City

The Opportunity

A high-growth, private equity-backed SaaS business is looking to appoint a senior finance leader to join the organization as VP Finance / Corporate Controller .

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad, high-impact role sitting at the intersection of financial controllership, commercial finance, FP&A and finance transformation .

The successful candidate will take significant ownership of the day-to-day finance function while partnering closely with the CFO, CEO, executive leadership team and private equity investors. This is an opportunity for a hands-on finance leader who can strengthen the financial infrastructure of a growing business while also helping drive EBITDA growth, cash generation, operational efficiency and strategic decision-making .

This is not a traditional accounting-only Controller position . We're looking for someone who can go beyond reporting the numbers and demonstrate where they have changed the business, improved performance and delivered meaningful transformation .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the corporate accounting and controllership function , ensuring accurate, timely and high-quality financial reporting.

• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close, consolidation and management reporting processes.
\n
• Oversee US GAAP accounting, technical accounting, internal controls, audit and statutory reporting .
\n
• Partner with the CFO and executive team on P&L performance, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial strategy .
\n
• Provide meaningful financial analysis and insight to support commercial and operational decision-making .
\n
• Prepare and deliver reporting for the Board, private equity sponsor and other key stakeholders .
\n
• Develop and monitor key SaaS and financial KPIs, helping leadership understand the key drivers of revenue, margin, EBITDA, cash and growth .
\n
• Lead initiatives to improve profitability, cost efficiency, working capital and cash generation .
\n
• Drive finance transformation and process improvement , including automation, standardization and optimization of finance processes.
\n
• Lead and/or support ERP and finance systems transformation , ensuring the finance infrastructure can scale with the business.
\n
• Partner with the CFO on M&A, financial due diligence, acquisition accounting and post-acquisition integration .
\n
• Strengthen financial controls, governance and processes to support the company's continued growth and future exit readiness.
\n
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners and other financial stakeholders.
\n
• Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing finance team.
\n
• Identify opportunities to use automation and AI to improve finance efficiency and enable the team to spend more time on analysis and decision support.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a commercially minded finance leader , rather than someone whose experience has been limited to traditional controllership.

You will ideally have:

• 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience , with significant experience at the Controller, Corporate Controller, VP Finance or similar level.
\n
• Strong experience within a SaaS, technology or other high-growth business .
\n
• Experience working within a private equity-backed environment , including exposure to PE reporting and Board-level stakeholders.
\n
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, controls and technical accounting .
\n
• Demonstrable experience owning or significantly contributing to P&L, FP&A, budgeting and forecasting .
\n
• A track record of improving financial performance , whether through cost optimization, margin improvement, working capital, cash generation or commercial initiatives.
\n
• Experience leading M&A due diligence, acquisition accounting and/or post-acquisition integration .
\n
• Proven experience delivering ERP implementations, finance transformation, automation or major process improvement initiatives .
\n
• Strong understanding of SaaS metrics and economics , including ARR, retention, CAC, LTV, gross margin and EBITDA.
\n
• Experience partnering directly with CEOs, CFOs, Boards and private equity investors .
\n
• Experience leading and developing finance teams across a growing or international organization.
\n
• The ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on and close to the detail .
\n
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate financial information into a clear commercial narrative .

• CPA preferred , with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
