Certified School Nurse Position

Effective for the 2026-2027 School Year a Certified School Nurse position will exist within the Norristown Area School District at Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy.

Sign On Bonus for new to the district employees (In addition to Salary): $3,000

Qualification:

• PA Department of Education School Nurse Certification required.
• CPR certified.
• Experience in Pediatrics preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years with school age students preferred.
• Current police, child abuse, and FBI Fingerprint clearances required.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Using methods established by the Advisory Health Board, conducts vision and hearing tests; measures height and weight; tests for tuberculosis; conducts scoliosis screening; and advises parents or guardians if the screening results warrant further medical or dental care.
• Conducts in-service training for school personnel regarding health matters.
• Assists families in understanding medical findings and recommendations and refers them to appropriate community agencies.
• Acts as a resource person to the educational community in matters pertaining to health.
• Advises administration on communicable disease regulations and excludes and re-admits students as necessary.
• Implements follow through procedures for children with special health or medical needs.
• Schedules mandated physical and special examinations.
• Assures that all students are in compliance with the State Immunization laws, advises the building principal on this matter and maintains tracking records until complete.
• Administers medication as per District guidelines.
• Reports and documents cases of suspected child abuse in accordance with District guidelines.
• Coordinates the recording of all pertinent health information in the students health record, insuring accuracy, confidentiality, and completeness.
• Establishes guidelines for first aid and is responsible for first aid supplies in the building.
• Develops emergency procedures that are practiced in the schools.
• Submits accurate data for required building and District reports.
• Recommends type of transportation necessary in cases of emergency.
• Shall perform other school health related duties as deemed appropriate.
• Participates in MDT, grade level meetings, and SAP sessions.
• Completes psychological and homebound referral forms initiated by the guidance department.
• Coordinates building medical services and directs nurse (RN/LPN) to implement them.
• Collaborates with administration to provide families with information through a variety of measures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

Monday- Friday

7.5 hours/ day

2026-2027 Salary Schedule:

Experience calculated per contract agreement not to exceed step 10

Bachelor's - $62,663- $78,539 (step 10)

Bachelor's + 24 - $67,760- $87,165 (step 10)

Master's - $72,133- $95,070 (step 10)

Master's + 15 - $75,276- $99,400 (step 10)

Master's + 30 - $78,419- $103,698 (step 10)

Master's + 45 - $78,944- $104,289 (step 10)

Doctorate/Master's + 60 - $79,469- $104,848 (step 10)
