Accountant/Bookkeeper

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our finance team. Responsibilities Perform daily bookkeeping duties including data entry, journal entries, and maintaining general ledger accounts using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining accurate records. Reconcile bank statements, balance sheets, and account balances regularly to ensure consistency and accuracy across all financial data. Prepare financial reports, including income statements, cash flow statements, and budget analyses to support management decision-making. Handle payroll processing using systems like ADP, UltiPro, or Paychex while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. Assist with tax preparation and compliance activities, including supporting audits and maintaining documentation for governmental reporting requirements. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards. Skills Extensive experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, governmental accounting standards, and technical accounting concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management. Ability to perform detailed account analysis, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entry preparation with accuracy. Excellent numeracy skills combined with strong attention to detail for data entry and account management tasks. Knowledge of payroll systems like ADP or UltiPro along with payroll management best practices. Familiarity with auditing standards including SOX compliance and experience working within public accounting or non-profit organizations is a plus. Strong communication skills coupled with customer service orientation for collaborating across teams and supporting internal stakeholders effectively.
