Senior Process EngineerProgressive Design, Inc. is currently seeking an entrepreneurial spirited Senior Process Engineer. This is a full time/direct hire position located in Midlothian, Virginia (Richmond, VA area). Key requirements and responsibilities include:Responsibilities:Perform engineering duties on assigned projects including equipment specifications, process piping, material handling and conveying, HVAC, and other mechanically related engineering and design.Manage the engineering and design process from inception to completion. This includes leading projects, work planning, directing and overseeing designers and engineers assigned to your projects, design reviews (both internal and with client), and checking deliverables (calculations, drawings, technical reports).Prepare PFDs and P&IDsSize and specify typical process equipment such as pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, chillers, condensers, mixers, distillation and absorption columns, etc.Perform calculations to size and specify process, service and utility piping systemsPerform calculations to size and specify safety relief devicesReview equipment submittals for accuracy and validate against specificationsDevelop and/or verify mass and energy balancesMaintain familiarity with various industrial codes such as ASME and APIVisit customer sites for field workDirect customer interface and coordinationDevelop detailed scopes of workCompile detailed project estimates (project, engineering and construction)Manage scope, schedule, and budgetExercise innovative cost efficiency approaches in the project design to reduce construction costs and increase productivityRequirements:Chemical Engineering undergraduate degree from an ABET accredited school10+ years of heavy industrial experience in a design or process engineering role.Virginia Professional Engineer preferred but not requiredMust have heavy industrial experience, experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or bio-processing industries is a plusProject management experienceExperience working in a multidiscipline engineering consulting firmProcess safety experience (PHAs, HAZOPs, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Inherently Safer Design, Documentation to support process safety, etc.)Current working knowledge of safety relief device code requirements, calculations, sizing and system design proceduresCurrent working knowledge of chemical engineering principles with an emphasis on fluid mechanics, mass and heat transfer, and thermodynamicsWorking knowledge of Aspen or HYSISMust be technically sound, and be willing to mentor junior engineersStrong communication and organizational skillsMust be results orientedMust be a team playerMust possess uncompromised commitment to qualityMust be US citizen, have a Valid U.S. Driver's License, Clear Background, Pass a Drug testBenefits: We offer a fast paced, exciting work environment with a competitive compensation package including: Health Care Benefits, Paid Time Off & Holidays, Flexible work schedules, Work life balance, 401K match, paid overtime, performance based bonus, and tuition reimbursement.
