Agency Dept of Health and Human Services Division Job Classification Title: Cook (S) Position Number: 60043728 Grade: NC01 Description Of Work This position is primarily responsible for preparing assigned products to include breakfast items, noon meal items, and evening meal items, and for cleaning and sanitizing the production area. Items created in this area can significantly affect the nutritional quality and acceptance level of patient diets. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) / Management Preferences Salary Range: $31,200.00 - $48,810.00 Ability to speak, read, understand and follow oral and written instructions in English. Knowledge of acceptable food handling, food service, safety, and sanitation standards and practices. Physical requirements will be discussed during the interview process; but include ability to perform moderate physical labor; ability to work in a repetitive motion, walking long distances, occasional lifting of objects 10 to 35 pounds, standing 1 1/2 hours in the same place, bending and stooping. Knowledge of the uses and adaptability of the various pieces of equipment including kettles, convection ovens, convection steamers, braising pans, mixer, food processors, slicers and deep fryers. Benefits and Compensation This is a full‑time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal work hours for this position are 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., including alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. This will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.
