CapEd Credit Union is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a key financial and strategic leader for the organization. In this role, you will guide overall financial performance, long-term planning, and balance sheet strategy while partnering closely with the President/CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors.

What you’ll do

• Serve as a strategic advisor to the President/CEO and Executive Leadership Team on financial strategy, performance, and risk.
• Lead enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year scenario modeling to support key business decisions.
• Manage overall balance sheet strategy, including liquidity, funding, capital planning, and investment portfolio direction.
• Lead Asset Liability Management (ALM) and provide leadership to the Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO), including interest rate risk, pricing, and capital strategy.
• Oversee profitability across products, services, and member segments, including net interest margin (NIM), return on assets (ROA), and non-interest income.
• Provide financial support and discipline for commercial, construction, and other lending portfolios, including secondary market considerations where applicable.
• Direct accounting operations and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure readiness for internal and external audits and regulatory examinations.
• Oversee CECL methodology, modeling, implementation, documentation, and ongoing validation.
• Partner with Risk and Compliance leaders to support sound financial risk management and alignment with NCUA and other regulatory requirements.
• Present financial results, forecasts, risks, and strategic insights to the Board of Directors and executive team in a clear, practical, and actionable way.
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What you bring

• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within a credit union, bank, or other regulated financial institution.
• Strong background in ALM, liquidity management, investments, forecasting, and capital planning.
• Experience with CECL, including model oversight, data assumptions, and governance.
• Understanding of commercial and construction lending portfolios, including performance, risk, pricing, and secondary market dynamics.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial institution regulatory expectations, including NCUA standards and audit/exam processes.
• Proven experience working with executive teams and presenting to a Board or similar governing body.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• A practical, collaborative leadership style that builds trust, develops people, and aligns with organizational culture.
