Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Role & Responsibilities: The COTA provides diagnostic evaluations and implements treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OTR). They assist patients in reaching optimal functional performance through therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment training, and environmental modifications. Responsibilities include designing and administering individualized therapy programs, fabricating splints and adaptive devices, and conducting home assessments. They also provide education on energy conservation, safety, and self-care techniques for patients and their families. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate patient records, participating in support groups, and ensuring compliance with safety, privacy, and community policies. Qualifications & Skills: Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, current registration with relevant professional bodies, and possess strong leadership, customer service, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with adaptive tools are preferred. Ability to make independent decisions, evaluate social situations, and work collaboratively is essential. Key Duties: Support treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions for various patient needs (neurological, traumatic brain injury, developmental), and design home programs.
