RN Coordinator (Thoracic) - Surgery - Full Time 10 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

Coordinator Registered Nurse

The Coordinator is a Registered Nurse with recognized leadership abilities and sound clinical skills who will actively assist the Director of Perioperative Services in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the unit. The Coordinator takes a leading role in activities such as nursing performance improvement, job performance evaluations, staffing, scheduling and working with the directors in the orientation and training of new employees

Essential Duties:

1. Understands & implements JACHO and Title 22 regulations
2. Coordinates daily OR schedule in collaboration with Chief of Anesthesia & OR Manager
3. Coordinates patient flow between Pre-op/ Surgery/OR and PACU
4. Makes daily staffing assignments based on unit based competencies
5. Promotes professional growth within department including in-services/ preparation & presentation
6. Interviews new candidates for employment
7. Tabulates daily/end of pay period Kronos/payroll
8. Ensures timeliness of staff credentials/licenses/Annual Health Assessment.
9. Utilizes Samie Model for problem solving and Performance Improvement within department.
10. Assists OR Manager with completion of evaluations in a timely manner.
11. Assists OR Manager with staff counseling as needed.
12. Assists in orienting new staff & preparing preceptor assignments.
13. Ensures that Infection Control practices are followed.
14. Promotes positive role in leadership skills with staff.
15. Positive patient advocate and change agent.
16. Ensures that PI nurse completes reports quarterly for Quality Assurance.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree Nursing Degree in Nursing
• 2 years Operating Room experience immediately prior to application
• Organization/time management skills.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Perioperative Registered Nurse - CNOR (AORN)

Required Licenses/Certifications:

• Registered Nurse - RN (CA DCA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $53.00 - $87.45.
