Jefferson Outpatient Imaging is currently seeking an experienced X‑ray tech for a PRN position at our outpatient imaging center located in our Marlton, NJ office. We are a busy, multi‑modality outpatient radiology office open Monday‑Friday. The X‑ray tech is responsible for taking quality x‑rays as well as assisting the radiologist in performing arthrograms. Job Summary Under the direction of the Radiology Medical Director, the Diagnostic Imaging technologist performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. The technologist ensures services are performed in a safe environment in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements and serves as part of the imaging center team, seeking as well as providing feedback for improved clinical practice. Essential Job Functions Receives, relays, and documents verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient’s medical record. Corroborates patient’s clinical history with physician’s order and procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner. Assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures. Identifies, prepares, positions patient, and competently performs procedure by using established radiographic protocols or as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner to achieve the highest quality image. Applies principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Performs venipuncture and maintains intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner. Identifies, prepares, and administers medications as prescribed by and under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner in accordance with state and federal regulations. Evaluates images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded. Identifies and manages emergency situations. Provides education to patients, as well as students and other health‑care providers. Performs ongoing quality assurance activities. May conduct point‑of‑care creatinine clearance testing in accordance with established radiographic protocols or as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner when needed or required. Assists with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiographic procedures, applying appropriate aseptic surgical technique where required. Adjusts imaging parameters, patient procedure, or radiographic technique exposure factors to improve the outcome with consideration given to established protocols and other influencing factors. Performs non‑interpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner where state statutes and/or institutional policy permits. Maintains archival storage of digital data as appropriate. Assists in maintaining supply inventory. Instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties as necessary. Establishes ownership of clinical area by maintaining appearance and readiness of exam rooms, equipment, and supplies. Participates in performance improvement activities. Demonstrates consistent use of AIDET and HEAL when interacting with patients/customers. Takes initiative to help other modalities/areas of the Imaging Center as assigned or when workload allows. Attends staff meetings, in‑services, and center‑wide meetings as scheduled. Performs all other duties as assigned. Requirements Experience Minimum 5 years experience as a Radiography Technologist. Education Must have a minimum Associate’s Degree in Radiology or be a graduate of an accredited two‑year radiology program. License/Certification Requirements Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and maintain current valid registration. Additionally, must meet state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 60 days of hire. Skills/Abilities Skill in operation of radiographic equipment and applicable ancillary equipment. Ability to work independently and multitask. Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely. Demonstrates understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology.
