AlphaGen oversees one of the largest domestic, independent power portfolios, with nearly $2 billion in annual revenue, and manages over 14,000 megawatts of power infrastructure across four RTO markets (PJM, NYISO, ISONE, and CAISO) with a best-in-class senior management team focused on value creation while managing risk. Position Summary: Alpha Generation is seeking a Maintenance Manager for the Astoria Generating Station (Astoria Generating LLC) located in Queens, NY. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for all aspects of plant maintenance, fiscal management, and administrative functions of the station maintenance department. The incumbent provides direct leadership to plant maintenance supervisors, IC&E/technical supervisors, and the planning department. Astoria Generating Station is a 932 MW steam generating facility in Queens, NY, primarily consisting of three (3) steam turbine generating units and associated power boilers, one combustion turbine, and all associated gas and electrical interconnection systems (interconnected to ConEdison 138 kV selling power into the NYISO market). The Maintenance Manager is also responsible for the maintenance of the Astoria ULSD Tank Farm, a fuel oil storage facility located 1 mile south of the main plant. The role works closely with owner representatives to establish plant culture, support management of the Local 1-2 Collective Bargaining Agreement, drive work management best practices (via EAM), and optimize outage execution. Key Responsibilities: Manage all day-to-day maintenance, fiscal, and administrative functions of the station maintenance department to achieve company and business unit goals. Provide direct leadership, direction, and supervision to plant maintenance supervisors, IC&E/technical supervisors, and the planning department. Establish, obtain approval for, and manage a complete annual maintenance budget consistent with business strategic objectives. Support the effective administration and management of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (Local 1-2). Drive productivity, teamwork, open communication, and high-performance standards while fostering technical, leadership, and business skill development among staff. Provide regular performance feedback to employees, encouraging employee involvement, innovative thinking, continuous improvement, and responsible risk-taking. Emphasize, promote, and enforce safety and environmental programs to ensure full regulatory compliance across all job sites. Partner with Planning and Scheduling to implement work management best practices derived from the Maintenance Team and ensure work management reports are provided to maintenance and operations. Assign work maintenance analysis processes, monitor for effectiveness, manage resource estimates, and ensure cost-effective utilization of company resources. Perform field inspections of job sites and work in progress to recognize problems proactively and ensure quality execution. Manage multiple consecutive outages while ensuring future outage planning is in active development alongside routine daily/forced maintenance scheduling. Serve as the Plant's process owner for outage management and performance optimization, coordinating outage schedules between Engineering, Plant Management, Operations, and Commercial Operations. Track work plans, schedules, and costs for all outages and major maintenance events; coordinate craft labor and contractor manpower to optimize resource utilization. Monitor outage key performance indicators (KPIs), conduct post-outage 'lessons learned' reviews, and incorporate past findings into upcoming outage preparations. Key Attributes: Safety & Environmental Leadership: Uncompromising commitment to workforce safety, environmental stewardship, hazard identification, and regulatory compliance. Labor Relations & Union Leadership: Strong knowledge of human resources and experience managing under collective bargaining agreements (Local 1-2) with fairness, consistency, and open communication. Outage Management Mastery: Process ownership of complex steam turbine, power boiler, and balance of plant outages, driving schedule adherence, contractor oversight, and cost control. Fiscal & Administrative Discipline: Proven ability to establish annual maintenance budgets, monitor expenditures, optimize resource allocation, and deliver cost-effective performance. Analytical & Decision-Making Capabilities: Proactive problem solver with strong analytical ability, detail orientation, and sound judgment under tight deadlines. Field Presence & Quality Control: Active presence in the field performing job site inspections, holding employees accountable, and resolving technical obstacles. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field, or the equivalent in technical training and hands‑on power plant experience. Minimum of 10 years of experience in power plant operations or maintenance required. Strong knowledge of conventionally fired steam technologies, power boilers, steam turbines, generators, electronic controls, and monitoring devices. Demonstrated managerial, supervisory, and departmental leadership experience in a utility or power generation facility. Experience managing digital maintenance programs for asset management (EAM / CMMS). Knowledge of human resources principles and prior experience working with collective bargaining agreements (Local 1-2) desired. Strong proficiency with personal computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project). Demonstrated effective communication skills, analytical capability, and ability to meet strict operational deadlines. Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver’s License (driving on company business is a requirement). Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Physical capability to perform repetitive and non-repetitive duties including lifting, pushing, pulling, stretching, bending, climbing, and working in awkward positions. Routinely required to lift, move, and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform field inspections across the 932 MW Astoria Generating Station and the Astoria ULSD Tank Farm facility located 1 mile south. 100% on-site position located in Queens, NY (Astoria facility) with zero travel required.
