Strategic HR Generalist for Growth & Compliance

Compa is looking for an HR Generalist to help build and scale our people function as we grow. This role goes beyond traditional HR administration—you’ll be a trusted partner to employees and managers across the organization, supporting everything from hiring and onboarding to employee relations, benefits, and compliance. We move fast and operate with high ownership. HR at Compa is expected to be both strategic and hands-on: developing programs, improving processes, and keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly. You’ll help shape how we attract talent, develop our team, and build a workplace where people do their best work. What You’ll Do Lead new hire onboarding to ensure every employee starts with a great experience Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions on policies, benefits, and HR processes Support benefits administration including enrollment, changes, leave management, and vendor coordination Maintain accurate employee records in Rippling and process all employment changes (hires, terminations, promotions, LOA) Ensure HR practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO) Coordinate performance review cycles and support managers in development planning and corrective action Generate HR reports and people metrics to support leadership decision-making Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HR policies, programs, and internal tools What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience 2–4 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar people-focused role Solid working knowledge of core HR disciplines—employee relations, benefits, payroll and employment law Proficiency with HRIS platforms (preferably Rippling) and Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization High ownership mindset—you proactively spot issues and drive solutions without waiting to be asked Scrappy and resourceful—comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous, high-growth environment Discreet and professional when handling sensitive or confidential information Nice to Have HR certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent Experience supporting a multi-state or distributed workforce Familiarity with HRIS systems - Rippling Startup or high-growth company experience Experience with leave administration and reasonable accommodation processes Why Join Us High-growth environment — Join a fast-scaling Series B AI company at a pivotal stage Build, not maintain — You’ll help define how the people function works at Compa Real impact — Direct exposure to leadership and meaningful influence on company culture and decisions Cross-functional reach — Work closely with teams across product, engineering, and GTM #J-18808-Ljbffr
