Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, preparing financial reports, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and supporting compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role works closely with management to provide financial insights and maintain strong internal controls.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage and perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze financial data and investigate variances.
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Support external audits and coordinate with auditors to provide required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions for accuracy.
- Assist with cash flow analysis and financial reporting.
- Prepare sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings as required.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA designation preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with financial statement preparation and general ledger accounting.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or Yardi.
