Respiratory Therapist II, PT Wknd Nights (NICU)

Location: Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, United States of America. Work Shift: Night. Hours: Part-time Nights, Weekend (24 hours per week). Overview The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple problem‑patient situations, primarily in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision‑making, and self‑direction. In addition to direct patient care, the RT II provides patient, family/support system education, coordinates activities, develops staff, and engages in professional and self‑developmental activities. The RT II addresses biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs of patients and families and participates in training new employees and others. Responsibilities Provides customer service: completion of patient care, documentation, education; promotes a team spirit and positive work environment; supports students and staff. Administers quality patient care: performs patient assessment and therapy assessment; collaborates with the health‑care team in care planning; verifies orders and administers aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen and medical gas therapy; performs ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care); performs arterial blood gas sampling and analysis; educates patients and mentors new employees, students and peers; assists with invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Provides safe and quality environment: promotes accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging; maintains a high level of patient safety (medication safety, NPSG, etc.); drives performance‑improvement initiatives; promotes evidence‑based practice; reviews revised and new DPPs; performs other duties as assigned; complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program (CoARC or CAAHP) with minimally 20 quarter hours of science; Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: 0–2 years of clinical experience with a minimum of 6 months in critical care. Skills: Strong communication, critical‑thinking, and collaboration skills; ability to establish and maintain relationships with physicians and other health‑care professionals; computer proficiency including database familiarity; good customer‑relation, assessment, and communication skills. Licenses and Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist; Respiratory Care Professional; Basic Life Support (BLS); BLS Instructor and Provisional; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); ACLS Instructor and Provisional; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); PALS Instructor and Provisional; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP); NRP Instructor and Provisional.
