About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg /Telemetry Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with a focus in Med/Surg/Telemetry. Traveler experience accepted; first-time travelers welcome. Skilled in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Competent in management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response teams. Experience with bowel obstruction care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and feeding tube care. Proficient in pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care. Experienced in blood product administration, central line blood draw, and phlebotomy. Knowledgeable in managing and maintaining IVs, including insulin and PCA administration. Familiar with chest tube management, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration. Adequate training in isolation precautions and wound care management. Description: The candidate will be responsible for providing patient care in a Med/Surg/Telemetry setting. They will manage a patient ratio of 1 nurse to 6 patients. The role requires floating to different units as needed, based on facility requirements. Weekend coverage is expected every other weekend. Candidates must be willing to work during holidays and potential catastrophic events. Patient diagnoses may include diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, sepsis, and more. The candidate should be familiar with electronic documentation and any required charting systems. Support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Additional skills such as managing surgical drains and tracheostomy care are preferred. Knowledge of continuous bladder irrigation and interpretation of arterial blood gases is a plus. Charge experience and community hospital experience are preferred but not required.
