Senior Test Automation Systems Design Engineer Location: US-MA-MARLBOROUGH-MA1, 1001 Boston Post Rd, BLDG 1, United States of America Overview This role focuses on designing, developing, and integrating automated test solutions for satellite communication systems and subsystems. The engineer will work from requirements definition through build, integration, and deployment to manufacturing or customer facilities, collaborating with cross‑disciplinary teams and providing on‑site support. Responsibilities Develop test hardware and software, guiding the project from requirements through integration and deployment. Design and support multi‑disciplinary integration of communications, RF, analog, digital, firmware systems, and test stations. Maintain in‑depth knowledge of computer architecture, COTs equipment, interconnects/interfaces, and standard communication protocols. Code and integrate solutions using NI TestStand, LabVIEW, and/or LabWindows/CVI. Communicate effectively and author technical documentation to support project stakeholders. Lead preliminary and detailed design reviews and present deliverables at project status meetings. Manage budget, schedule, and performance commitments for assigned projects. Collaborate with mechanical engineering to design test adapters, fixtures, and interconnects; AutoCAD knowledge is a plus. Operate autonomously with limited supervision as an individual contributor in a multi‑functional environment. Support manufacturing operations, offering on‑site troubleshooting and debugging when needed. Qualifications Minimum five years of engineering design and development experience, preferably in test equipment or automation. Experience transitioning automated solutions from the laboratory to production environments, delivering hardware and software and training final operators. SC–STEM degree (or advanced degree) with at least five years of hands‑on experience, or an advanced degree plus three years of relevant experience. Strong interpersonal, decision‑making, problem‑solving, and technical writing skills (MS Word, Excel, Visio). Hands‑on experience with National Instruments software suite (TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, LabVIEW). Design skills for hardware stations using rack instrumentation, PXIe/MXI, and VME platforms. Knowledge of digital, RF, and/or power‑supply test hardware and software design. Familiarity with engineering processes: CMMI and Six Sigma. Security Clearance U.S. citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued Secret clearance is mandatory; active clearance must exist after day one.
