Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Rate: $40 Per Hour

PER DIEM RATE: $43 PER HOUR

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) POSITION SUMMARY: The Physical Therapist Assistant implements physical therapy programs and provides physical therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist;
2. Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises;
3. Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures;
4. Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist;
5. Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist;
6. Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7. Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8. Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist;
9. Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
2. Licensed as required by the State.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) JOB SKILLS:

1. Good organizational skills and time management skills.
2. Good verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES:

1. Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
