2027 Future Talent Program Neuroscience Discovery Co-op

Merck's Neuroscience team seeks a co-op student for a 6-month research position in CNS drug discovery. The role involves designing and executing in vitro and in vivo experiments to support identification and validation of novel neurological drug targets.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, interpret and report results from in vitro and/or in vivo experiments
• Develop, troubleshoot and execute new assays, protocols and imaging methods for neuroscience research
• Establish cell-based model systems and perform biochemical and immunohistochemical tissue analysis
• Communicate experimental data clearly to teams and stakeholders
• Collaborate with colleagues in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and genetics to support target validation

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in BS/BA/MA/PhD in biological sciences, biology, chemistry, pharmacy, or related field
• Completed at least two years toward degree by June 2026
• Available full-time for 6 months starting early to mid-2027
• Theoretical knowledge of at least two areas: molecular biology, biochemistry, cell culture, neuroscience, pharmacology, microscopy, or electrophysiology
• Hands-on lab experience with techniques such as Western blot, ELISA, PCR, cell culture, or calcium imaging
• Strong data collection, analysis, and presentation abilities
• Demonstrated interest in neuroscience drug discovery and multidisciplinary collaboration

Compensation: $39,908 - $111,111
