Position Summary

The IQC Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying all incoming raw materials, components, and packaging materials to ensure compliance with company specifications, quality standards, and supplier requirements before materials are released into production.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality, supplier performance, and manufacturing efficiency by preventing non-conforming materials from entering the production process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Incoming Material Inspection

• Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of incoming raw materials and components.
• Verify incoming materials against approved specifications, drawings, quality standards, and purchase order requirements.
• Confirm material identification, part numbers, lot numbers, quantities, and supplier certifications.
• Inspect packaging condition and report any shipping-related damage or discrepancies.
• Utilize measuring and inspection tools such as:
• • Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Measuring tapes
  • Height gauges
  • Thickness gauges
  • Other quality inspection equipment as required
• Documentation and Records
• Complete incoming inspection reports accurately and timely.
• Maintain inspection records, acceptance/rejection logs, and traceability documentation.
• Enter inspection data into company databases, spreadsheets, or quality management systems.
• Ensure proper retention and organization of quality records.

 

Non-Conforming Material Control

• Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials.
• Assist with Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and supplier quality investigations.
• Coordinate with Quality, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Production departments to resolve material quality issues.
• Support supplier communication regarding rejected materials and corrective action requests.

Material Release and Traceability

• Ensure only approved materials are released to production.
• Maintain material traceability throughout the receiving and inspection process.
• Retain inspection samples when required by procedures or customer requirements.
• Support inventory accuracy by verifying material quantities and documentation.

Continuous Improvement

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
• Assist in developing and improving incoming inspection procedures and inspection plans.
• Support ISO, customer, and internal quality system requirements.
• Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or technical training in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Incoming Quality Control, Manufacturing Quality, Receiving Inspection, or a related quality role preferred.
• Experience in solar module manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, or similar production environments is highly desirable.
• Experience working within ISO 9001 or other quality management systems preferred.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of incoming material inspection methods and quality control principles.

• Ability to use basic measuring and inspection instruments accurately.
• Familiarity with quality documentation and traceability requirements.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with ERP, MES, or Quality Management Systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 35 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to perform visual inspections of small and large components.
• Ability to use hands and fingers for measuring, inspection, and data-entry activities.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing and warehouse environment.
• Exposure to production equipment, moving machinery, and warehouse traffic.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required as designated by company safety policies.
• May require overtime, weekend work, or shift flexibility based on production demands.
