QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field Appropriate state licensure/certification as required for school social work Experience working with children, adolescents, families, or within a school setting preferred Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills If you do not currently hold the required credential for a specific state, the licensing team at PDS will help guide you through the process! A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER As a School Social Worker, you will spend your day helping students navigate social, emotional, behavioral, and personal challenges that may impact their academic success and overall well-being. You will work closely with students, families, teachers, administrators, and other members of the school team to help create a supportive environment where students can thrive. You will provide high-quality social work services based on students' individual needs and IEPs. Responsibilities may include providing individual and/or group counseling, conducting social-emotional assessments, supporting students with behavioral or social concerns, connecting families with community resources, participating in IEP meetings, and collaborating with school staff and families to develop effective support strategies. This is meaningful work that allows you to build strong relationships with students while helping them develop the skills and support systems they need to be successful both in school and beyond.
