Area Coordinator Of Programming & Residence Life
The Area Coordinator of Programming & Residence Life is a full-time, live-in, professional staff member and reports to the Director of Student Housing and Conduct. The position provides leadership for community development initiatives, student housing organizations programming, and oversees the day-to-day operation of an on campus living environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Residential Programming Leadership
- Lead the planning, execution, and assessment of department signature programming events; manage the departmental programming budget, resource room, and supply inventory
- Provide leadership and advisement to Residence Hall Directors on community programming plans; train student staff on data collection tools and review the assessment model annually
- Serve as the department liaison to the Student Involvement Center; maintain awareness of campus-wide programming resources and connect staff and students accordingly
CLSA and NRHH Advisement
- Serve as the primary advisor for CLSA and NRHH, attending Executive Board and General Assembly meetings, supporting event planning, and managing both organizations' budgets
- Conduct regular one-on-ones with select Executive Board members; organize and advise delegations for IACURH and NACURH conferences
- Oversee the departmental Of the Month (OTM) submission process; provide regular updates to housing staff on both organizations' activities and outcomes
Community Development and Student Support
- Build and sustain a residential community rooted in inclusion, belonging, and student engagement within the assigned building
- Provide direct support, advisement, and referrals to residents navigating personal, interpersonal, or academic concerns; conduct proactive mental health check-ins with documented follow-up
- Facilitate leadership development opportunities for residents and student leaders; partner with campus departments on co-programming that supports retention and holistic wellbeing
Building Operations, Facilities, and Crisis Response
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the assigned building, including occupancy management, key accountability, facility walkthroughs, and work order coordination with Physical Plant Services
- Train student staff on building procedures and duty expectations; attend weekly staff meetings for the assigned building and its sister building
- Participate in the campus Area Director on-call duty rotation; respond to after-hours emergencies and policy violations; complete thorough documentation and timely follow-up
- Maintain knowledge of college emergency procedures, Title IX protocols, Clery Act responsibilities, and mandatory reporting obligations
Administrative, Assessment, and Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain regular office hours and visibility; use StarRez, Maxient, Canva, and Campus Groups as required; maintain accurate records and digitally accessible materials
- Manage stipends for CLSA Board Members
- Assist with summer conference coordination and contribute to department strategic planning initiatives using assessment and benchmarking data
- Serve on department and institution-wide committees; pursue involvement in NASPA, ACUHO-I, IACURH, or NACURH
- Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508
- Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Previous experience working with college students in an educational or student affairs capacity
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success
- Strong administrative, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability and willingness to live on campus as a condition of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field
- Previous live-in residential life experience, including on-call or duty rotation
- Experience advising student organizations, particularly residence hall associations or recognition programs
- Supervisory or management experience with student staff
- Experience with residential programming assessment, budget management, or event coordination
- Familiarity with StarRez, Maxient, Canva, or Campus Groups
Travel
- 5% or less is expected for conference and professional development
Reports To
- Director of Student Housing and Conduct
FLSA Status/Position Type/Expected Hours of Work and Salary Range
- Exempt from state classified system
- Exempt from overtime (salary)
- Full-Time, 1.0 FTE, Permanent, 12-Month
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with regular evening and weekend obligations
Live-In Requirement: College-provided, partially furnished on-campus apartment required for the duration of employment

Compensation
The salary for this position is $49,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
