Payroll Specialist

Benesch is proud to announce the opening for a Payroll Specialist in our Cleveland office. This position is hybrid with work-from-home flexibility. Position Summary Do you have experience in accounting or finance? Are you interested in payroll? This role is perfect for an entry-level person who can learn and help execute all matters related to payroll. Position Responsibilities Ensure new hires are correctly set up. Ensure termination pay and final payments are accurate. Ensure taxes are correctly administered. Review time cards for accuracy. Assist in preparing payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions including salaries, overtime, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions. Track leave of absences and payments accurately. Prepare analyses related to payroll transactions, employee demographics and insurance data. Assist in processing pension contribution changes. Help with payments to benefit companies and reconcile billing. Serve as a resource and interact with employees to answer payroll-related questions. Assist with annual audits. Prepare ad hoc payroll reports and analysis as needed. Maintain a strong knowledge base about payroll regulations and reporting requirements, including multi-state payrolls. Identify areas of continuous improvement and proactively work with Payroll/HR/Finance team members to make changes. Maintain strict confidentiality of firm client information, internal and personnel affairs. Build relationships and foster a collaborative approach to working with internal clients across practice groups and management. Willingly work a flexible schedule and the hours needed to accomplish firm expectations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Key Competencies Must have Excel experience, prioritize detail and accuracy, and have a customer-first mentality. Versatility is required. Qualifications The Payroll Specialist must have strong analytical skills and working knowledge in Excel. Must be an organized self-starter who is detail-oriented and has a First in Service attitude. A bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year experience in accounting, payroll or similar in an office environment. ADP Workforce experience is considered a plus. The salary range for this position is $56K to $70K.
