Senior Software Engineer/System Engineer

Job Description

U.S. Citizenship Required | Active TS/SCI with Full-Scope Polygraph Required

About the Role\n

You’ll help take a proven, mission-focused product suite beyond its original customer environment and make it deployable across a much wider range of customers and environments.

\n

\n

Your core challenge is to genericize the current solution. That means removing customer-specific dependencies, abstracting environment-specific configurations, and building interfaces that let authorization workflows and key management operations run across many different customer environments. Your work will touch every major part of the ecosystem: clients, the Portal, Proxy services, and OpenBao-based key management services.

What You’ll Do\n

\n
• Lead changes to encryption libraries and key management services
\n
• Migrate code from low-side to high-side environments
\n
• Set and apply best practices so solution designs are implemented successfully, through clear team communication, planning documentation, system testing, and defect resolution
\n
• Manage day-to-day work toward project milestones
\n
• Contribute to project planning and status reporting

\n

What You Bring (Required)\n

\n
• 12+ years of professional experience
\n
• A BS in Computer Science or a related field, or 8 years of equivalent work experience
\n
• Experience with C or C++
\n
• 8+ years of Java development on both Linux and Windows
\n
• Proficiency in at least one more high-level language, ideally Python, Go, or Rust (JavaScript is a plus)
\n
• 5+ years of cryptographic experience, with a solid understanding of key management
\n
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with teammates and clients

\n

What Sets You Apart (Preferred)\n

\n
• Experience as a contractor in the Intelligence Community
\n
• 8+ years with modern software development management practices
\n
• Working knowledge of Agile methodology
\n
• 5+ years building with REST APIs
\n
• 2+ years with cloud platforms, tools, and administration
\n
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
\n
• Strong analytical troubleshooting and performance evaluation skills

\n

How You Work\n

\n
• You follow through, stay motivated, and collaborate well across the team
\n
• You’re comfortable in a matrixed environment and with virtual, distributed teams
\n
• You work independently, juggle multiple priorities, and own your parts of the project
\n
• You stay steady under pressure, including tight deadlines and shifting requirements

\n

Why Join\n

You’ll be encouraged to learn new and emerging technologies, and you’ll have room to share what you know with a team of highly skilled professionals.
