The Opportunity

Williams Parker is seeking an experienced Trust Processor to join the firm’s accounting function and oversee the accurate, timely, and secure movement of client trust funds. This specialized role manages trust transactions from initial review through final confirmation while maintaining the controls, documentation, and confidentiality essential to law firm trust accounting.

What You Will Do

• Process client trust transactions with accuracy and control. Review requests for completeness and cleared funds, then process incoming and outgoing wires, trust checks, deposits, stop payments, voids, internal transfers, and other trust disbursements.
• Monitor transactions through completion. Confirm that funds have been received, released, returned, or otherwise resolved. Research delayed, rejected, returned, or compliance-held electronic payments and work with bank representatives to resolve issues.
• Maintain complete trust accounting records. Post or facilitate the posting of trust receipts to the appropriate client trust ledger and document transaction requests, approvals, bank confirmations, and verification communications.
• Coordinate time-sensitive transactions. Provide updates to closing and post-closing paralegals and communicate with attorneys and accounting personnel when additional information, authorization, corrective action, or escalation is required.
• Protect client funds and strengthen trust processes. Follow internal controls, segregation-of-duties requirements, fraud-prevention practices, and confidentiality standards. Support the resolution of aging trust balances, dormant funds, and potential unclaimed-property items, and contribute to process improvements.

Requirements

What You Will Bring

• Trust and financial transaction experience. Prior experience processing client funds, wire transfers, or other financial transactions in a controlled accounting, banking, legal, title, escrow, or real estate closing environment. Experience with trust accounting or IOLTA accounts is preferred, along with familiarity with commercial or treasury banking and domestic and international wires.
• Strong controls and risk awareness. An understanding of transaction controls, segregation of duties, fraud prevention, positive pay, confidential financial information, dormant trust balances, and unclaimed-property procedures.
• Exceptional accuracy and judgment. Meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, organization, and follow-through, including the ability to identify discrepancies and recognize when further review or escalation is required.
• Composure and responsive communication. The ability to manage multiple priorities and remain focused while processing urgent or high-value transactions, together with clear written and verbal communication skills.
