Job Description

We are seeking a caring, patient, dependable, and attentive individual to provide in-home care and support for a sweet, funny, and kind 9-year-old boy with autism.

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, responsible, and comfortable working with a child who requires a high level of supervision and assistance with daily living activities. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

Care will take place in the child's home after school, with additional hours on Sundays.

Schedule

• Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Friday: Approximately 3:45 PM–7:00 PM/8:00PM
• Thursday: Approximately 3:45PM-10:00PM
• Sunday: 6 hours in the morning/early afternoon with flexible scheduling

Some flexibility may be available for the right candidate. Specific hours and scheduling details will be discussed during the interview process.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, one-on-one supervision to ensure the child's safety at all times.
• Maintain close supervision due to elopement risk and difficulty distinguishing between safe and unsafe situations.
• Assist with personal care, including diaper changes and toileting-related hygiene.
• Provide assistance with bathing and other personal hygiene needs.
• Assist with meals, including meal preparation as needed, mealtime support, and cleanup.
• Engage the child in age-appropriate activities and provide companionship in a positive, supportive manner.
• Follow established routines, household guidelines, and individualized care and safety plans.
• Communicate effectively with the family regarding the child's needs, activities, and any concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment while protecting the child's dignity and privacy.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, or special needs is preferred.
• Previous experience in caregiving, direct support, childcare, or personal care is a plus.
• Must be patient, dependable, attentive, and compassionate.
• Must be comfortable assisting with diaper changes, bathing, and other personal care needs.
• Must be able to provide consistent, close supervision and respond appropriately to elopement risks and safety concerns.
• Must be reliable and able to commit to the scheduled hours.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and established care routines are essential.
• Completion of 8 hours of required DODD training is mandatory.
• A background check is required.
• CPR and First Aid certification are required. **The employer will coordinate the required DODD training, background check, and CPR/First Aid arrangements with the selected candidate. Details regarding scheduling and completion of these requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.
