Full Charge Bookkeeper Jobs in Friends For Life Animal Shelter Houston, TX We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to oversee and manage all aspects of our company's financial operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting budgeting and cash flow management. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the financial health and stability of the organization while upholding the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Maintain complete and accurate financial records for the organization. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Generate timely financial reports, forecasts, and budget analyses for management. Assist with the annual budgeting process and collaborate with department leaders to develop financial plans. Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions when necessary. Manage company cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity and financial stability. Oversee cash disbursements, collections, and daily financial transactions. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations. Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment of accounts payable. Generate customer invoices and monitor accounts receivable collections. Follow up on outstanding balances and maintain positive client relationships. Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and supporting documentation. Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a regular basis. Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly. Prepare and file quarterly sales tax returns and other required financial reports. Assist with year‑end financial reporting and audit preparation. Maintain and improve bookkeeping systems, processes, and internal controls. Work closely with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies. Support management with financial analysis and strategic planning initiatives. Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial information. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a Full Charge Bookkeeper role. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping practices, and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and sales tax reporting. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Preferred Skills Experience with budgeting and financial forecasting. Knowledge of payroll processing and tax compliance. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
