Assessment Clinician, Peace Hospital, 3:00pm-11:30pm

Job Overview Assessment Clinician I – Primary Location: Peace, Louisville, KY 40205. Shift: Second Shift (United States of America). Responsibilities Evaluate individuals seeking behavioral health/substance use treatment and seek justification for admission. Conduct evaluations at local hospitals, UofL Peace Hospital, and community agencies. Refer patients to appropriate services and assist in the intake process for those admitted. Determine provisional diagnosis and discuss treatment recommendations with patient, family, and medical providers. Coordinate level of care expectations with physicians, Assessment Referral Center, personnel, patient care units, and external agencies. Develop relationships with community partners through consistent, quality services. Assess psychological, social, and treatment needs by analyzing data collected from patients, families, collateral sources such as schools, outpatient therapists, and community providers. Record and communicate clinical information to physicians and the interdisciplinary treatment team. Perform insurance prior authorizations and present detailed clinical information to medical providers and nursing staff. Other Functions Maintain professional development and education. Provide referrals based on clinical assessments and communicate relevant information to patient and family regarding treatment programs and patient rights. Demonstrate effective understanding of legal issues associated with assessment and admission, including EMTALA and Mental Inquest Warrant processes. Provide assessment services for various patient populations, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric as needed. Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct. Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Family & Marriage Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field (required). One year of experience in the mental health field and prior crisis intervention or assessment/diagnostic setting (preferred). Licensure & Certification Valid Driver’s License (required for Mobile Assessment Clinicians only). Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) – required. Facility-provided Safe Crisis Management training – required. Job Competency Psychology: Knowledge of human behavior, learning and motivation, psychological research methods, and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Therapy and Counseling: Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental dysfunctions and career counseling. Social Perceptiveness, active listening, critical thinking, service orientation, and problem sensitivity. Language and reasoning abilities. Computer Skills: Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn electronic medical record systems and telehealth programs.
