School Psychologist
School Psychologist to serve students in an elementary school district. Qualifications: Illinois Professional Educator License with a School Psychologist endorsement Working Conditions: Excellent school district in positive, supportive modern elementary school system. Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Special Services
Supervises: N/A Position Summary: To provide services to and on behalf of Cary School District 26 students whose educational, social and/or psychological development is at risk or restricted due to ability, academic, personal-social, and/or emotional difficulties.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from an accredited university
- ISBE licensure in School Psychology
- Minimum of two years of school psychology experience preferred.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing an understanding of children's learning styles and behavioral patterns.
- Sharing his/her learning and experience of techniques in dealing with specific problems that impact student learning.
- Working to facilitate development and delivery of services to meet students' needed.
- Working directly with teachers, children, parents and administrators to identify and remediate problem areas related to school functioning.
- Strengthening working relationships between educators, parents, and the community.
- Assessing the total child and educational milieu to better understand special needs and how they may be met.
- Advocating for the rights of parent and child in the educational process.
- School Psychologist services in the schools include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Serving as a contributing member on the building's Problem Solving Team.
- Conducting and interpreting valid psychological and educational assessments (both formal and informal) to evaluate students' aptitudes, skills, development, program eligibility, progress, and appropriateness, and service needs.
- Consulting and collaborating with school personnel and parents about program development, prevention measures, early interventions, progress, and assessment of students' abilities.
- Providing individual counseling and/or group experiences with students to help solve problems or develop skills related to learning, development, and adjustment.
- In cooperation with other Problem Solving Team members, planning and conducting in-service presentations for teachers, parents, administrators or community groups to enhance understanding of and services for the educational and psychological development of children.
- Participating in parent education to assist parents in understanding their children's special needs, to provide information on child development, or to address other issues of individual or common to the parents' interests or concerns.
- Assisting in referrals of youth and families to community or private agencies for further evaluation, treatment, or services when needed.
- Maintaining familiarity with legal mandates and ethical standards that influence professional responsibilities.
- Informing parents of their legal rights and the legal rights of the child in the educational process, as well as the obligations of the school district, to ensure that children eligible for special education receive appropriate services.
- Serving as liaison to insure appropriate placement and services for children with disabilities.
- Facilitate IEP Team meetings.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the building principal.

Terms of Employment:
This is a 180 day per year position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
