Registered Nurse Surgery

Overview Del Sol Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse Surgery to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in El Paso, TX. As a key member of our surgical nursing staff, you will provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality outcomes and an exceptional patient experience. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments: verify patient histories, allergies, medications, informed consents, and ensure proper preparation for surgery. Perform intraoperative care as a circulating nurse and, as needed, scrub nurse: maintain a sterile field, manage instruments and supplies, perform accurate counts, and advocate for patient safety and comfort. Provide postoperative care: monitor patient recovery, assess pain and vital signs, administer medications and treatments as ordered, and educate patients and families regarding recovery, discharge instructions, and follow‑up care. Utilize critical thinking and strong clinical judgment to recognize changes in patient condition, respond to emergencies, and promptly alert the team. Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record in a thorough, timely, and consistent manner in line with hospital and regulatory standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols, and support a clean, organized, and efficient surgical environment. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas. Experience in perioperative nursing or related surgical settings preferred. Patient‑focused, adaptable to changing priorities, comfortable with high‑acuity cases, and committed to teamwork and communication. Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and on‑call coverage to support 24/7 surgical services.
