Regulatory Affairs Manager

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking an experienced Regulatory Affairs Manager for a direct-hire opportunity with a leading organization in the food ingredient and natural color industry. This position offers the opportunity to provide strategic regulatory leadership supporting innovative natural color solutions across the United States and Canada. Position Summary The Regulatory Affairs Manager will lead regulatory compliance activities for a portfolio of natural colors and coloring ingredients while supporting business growth, innovation, and commercialization initiatives. This individual will serve as the primary regulatory expert for North America, partnering closely with commercial, product development, quality, operations, and global regulatory teams to ensure compliance and drive successful product launches. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Strategy Lead regulatory compliance activities for natural color and ingredient portfolios marketed throughout the United States and Canada. Develop and execute regulatory strategies supporting new product launches, innovation initiatives, and customer conversion programs from synthetic to natural color solutions. Monitor, interpret, and communicate changes to FDA, USDA, Health Canada, CFIA, California, and other applicable regulations. Assess regulatory risks and opportunities associated with emerging technologies, biotechnology-derived ingredients, and novel pigments. Support regulatory approvals and commercialization efforts for new color technologies and ingredients. Industry Advocacy & Regulatory Leadership Represent the organization within relevant industry associations and regulatory forums. Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and key industry stakeholders. Lead regulatory submissions, petitions, GRAS assessments, registrations, and technical dossiers as required. Collaborate with global regulatory teams to support international market access and regulatory harmonization initiatives. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting the food ingredient and color industries. Customer & Commercial Support Provide regulatory expertise supporting customer reformulation projects and conversion from synthetic dyes to natural color alternatives. Advise customers and internal teams on ingredient declarations, labeling requirements, certifications, and compliance matters. Participate in customer meetings and respond to complex regulatory inquiries. Partner with sales and marketing teams to identify regulatory opportunities that support business growth and competitive differentiation. Cross-Functional Leadership Manage and develop regulatory affairs personnel and departmental priorities. Collaborate with Innovation, Product Development, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supply Chain, and Operations teams. Provide regulatory guidance on new ingredients, formulations, and technologies. Deliver training and education on regulatory requirements, industry trends, and compliance updates. Establish objectives, metrics, and strategies aligned with organizational goals. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Regulatory Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Nutrition, Food Safety, or a related scientific discipline. 10+ years of regulatory affairs experience within the food ingredient, food color, flavor, nutraceutical, or specialty ingredient industry. Strong knowledge of FDA food ingredient and color additive regulations, labeling requirements, and Health Canada regulations. Experience supporting product commercialization, customer compliance activities, and regulatory submissions. Demonstrated ability to develop regulatory strategies and influence cross-functional teams. Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Food Science, Regulatory Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) or equivalent professional certification. Experience with color additive petitions, GRAS notifications, novel ingredient approvals, or international food ingredient regulations. Active participation in food ingredient or regulatory industry organizations. Experience supporting synthetic-to-natural color conversion initiatives. Why Apply?
