We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity will play a central role in employee relations, compliance, leave administration, and day-to-day HR operations while working closely with leaders and staff across the organization. The position also contributes to hiring, onboarding, policy guidance, and HR process improvement to help maintain a well-supported and compliant workplace.

Responsibilities:
• Guide managers and employees on workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and employee relations matters while promoting consistent HR practices.
• Lead confidential reviews of employee issues, document findings, and support appropriate follow-up actions aligned with organizational standards and employment laws.
• Oversee personnel records, compliance documentation, and required reporting to maintain accurate files and meet regulatory obligations.
• Administer leave of absence processes, coordinate communication with employees and internal stakeholders, and ensure proper handling of related documentation and premiums.
• Support performance management activities by tracking evaluation timelines, preparing documentation, and advising supervisors on corrective action and employee development matters.
• Assist with recruitment and onboarding by managing employment paperwork, background screening steps, orientation activities, and work authorization records.
• Contribute to benefits support efforts, including employee communication and open enrollment administration as needed.
• Organize and help deliver HR training initiatives covering topics such as harassment prevention, workplace safety, and workers' compensation awareness.
• Prepare HR reports, participate in audits, and recommend improvements that strengthen compliance and operational efficiency across the department.• Experience performing broad human resources generalist work, including employee relations, compliance, and HR administration.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations, including California labor requirements.
• Ability to conduct workplace investigations with discretion, sound judgment, and strong documentation practices.
• Hands-on experience with onboarding, personnel record management, and HRIS-supported processes.
• Familiarity with leave of absence administration, benefits coordination, and workers' compensation activities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with managers, employees, and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and produce accurate reports and compliance records.
