Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN)

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

AM shifts available, with options from 6am-2:30pm, 8am-4:30pm, 9am-5:30pm, and 11:30am-8pm. Weekend and holiday call is required.

Job Description

The Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the pre-operative phase of care for surgical patients. This includes verifying consents and conducting patient assessments, including medication reviews. Additionally, the RN will provide Phase 2 post-operative care.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient consents and conduct thorough patient assessments.
• Review patients' medications prior to surgery.
• Provide Phase 2 post-operative care and monitor recovery.
• Support PACU RNs on-call as needed.
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in an 11-bay unit.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a perioperative setting, specifically pre-op and Phase 2 recovery.
• Advanced skills in IV insertion and familiarity with EPIC Optime.
• Knowledge of bladder scanners, EKG, glucometer, and pneumatic devices.
