Custodian

Custodian Position

The custodian is responsible for the daily care and upkeep of the Head Start Center. Keeps the facility clean and sanitary. 9 month position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Daily and as necessary, clean and disinfect all bathrooms including fixtures and walls.
2. Replenish all tissue and paper towel dispensers daily.
3. Empty all trash from classrooms, offices, kitchen, etc. daily.
4. Clean all inside windows once a month
5. Clean all outside windows twice during program year
6. Dust mop, wet mop and/or vacuum all floors daily
7. Strip and/or wax all hard surface floors once per season, or as needed
8. Steam clean all carpet areas once per season or as needed
9. Order all custodial supplies, with approval of Area Director
10. Dust and/or remove cobwebs from all vertical and horizontal surfaces weekly.
11. Replace light bulbs as needed
12. Assist with keeping outside Center grounds picked up and free of trash
13. Responsible for minor repairs to facility
14. Assist with maintenance of facility
15. Other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position

Requirements

High School/GED; Able to read and write English; Able to lift 50 lb.; Custodial Experience desirable; Employment physical and TB test; Current First Aid and CPR certification.
