Manager, Emergency Planning and Safety (Regular, Full-Time)Facilities & Security Operations Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Manager, Emergency Planning and Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive safety, emergency planning and response program. This position ensures organizational readiness for emergencies, promotes a culture of safety, and supports compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards. The Manager is responsible for preparing the organization to respond effectively to critical incidents and coordinating planning, response, recovery, and improvement activities before, during, and after emergency incidents. Works collaboratively across departments to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, coordinate emergency response planning, and lead preparedness efforts, training exercises, and incident response.Responsibilities:Safety Program ManagementDevelops, implements, and maintains organization-wide safety policies, procedures, and programs. Conducts risk assessments and safety audits to identify and mitigate workplace risks.Facilitates and manages the Health and Safety Committee initiatives and efforts.Monitors compliance with federal, state, and local occupational safety regulations.Implements and documents health and safety, OSHA, and other mandated training and programs. Tracks and reports safety performance metrics, trends, and mitigation measuresEmergency Planning and PreparednessDevelops, implements, and maintains emergency preparedness, response, and mitigation programs. Applies the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) as the core foundation of the overall emergency plan structure. Coordinates preparedness and response efforts for natural disasters, public health emergencies, security incidents, utility disruptions, and other types of emergencies.Fosters and coordinates communication protocols and management of the internal mass emergency notification system.Facilitates and manages cross-departmental emergency planning committees, meetings, the staff evacuation and emergency response program, and cross-functional first responder teams.Works cross-departmentally, manages emergency response equipment and tools, procurement, and storage.Develops an Emergency Operations Center (EOC), operations and functional plan, including a responsibility matrix and activation procedures. Coordinates response and recovery activities during and following emergencies and critical incidents, conducts incident debriefs, and develops next-step action plans.Training and Equipment ManagementDesigns and delivers a safety and emergency preparedness training program for employees, volunteers, and contractors for LACMA’s main campus and off-site locationsImplements a comprehensive training program that includes first responder training, tabletop exercises, drills, and functional, full-scale, scenario-based exercises. Evaluates incident response and training exercises and implements corrective actions.Maintains training records and ensures compliance with required certifications and training standards.Working with first-responder departments, develop an emergency-response equipment management and training program.Crisis Incident Management and Business ContinuityWorking closely with LACMA’s Executive team, serves as a member of the emergency response, recovery, and business continuity team.Collaborates on the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) Participates in establishing continuity policies, procedures, and governance structures.Aligns continuity planning with organizational goals, risk management, and regulatory requirements.Participates in applicable LA County Emergency Operations meetings, drills, and training. Stakeholder Coordination and AdministrationDevelops and maintains strong working relationships across departments to achieve, while building a comprehensive emergency response program.Establish partnerships with public safety and emergency response agenciesAssists with budgeting, staffing plans, vendor coordination, and operational resource allocationEnsures compliance with applicable industry standards for safety, emergency management, and business continuity programsManages documentation, records, and information; generates required internal and external reportsBenefits:The expected annual salary for this Los Angeles, CA based position is $80,000.00 - $85,000.00, subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMA’s comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.LACMA is committed to providing its employees with valuable and competitive benefits as a core part of a strong overall employee experience.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management, Business Continuity, or related fields is required. Master’s degree preferred.Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in safety, emergency management, business continuity, risk management, or related fieldsCertifications preferred, not required:Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)Associate Emergency Manager (AEM)Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)Certified Safety Professional (CSP)FEMA and NIMS certificationsKnowledge of emergency management principles, business continuity planning, and occupational safety practicesFamiliar with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) operations and planningExperience developing and implementing emergency preparedness and safety programsProficient in coordinating emergency response activities and training exercises
