Engineering Lead (Process, Mechanical, E&I, Civil)

Position Purpose

Owner's technical authority for the plant. Holds the design basis, resolves technical questions from the field, controls engineering change, and makes sure what is built matches what was designed and will actually operate.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the design basis, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, line lists, instrument index and electrical load schedule as controlled documents.
• Review and approve vendor drawings, installation requirements and contractor submittals before work proceeds.
• Disposition field technical queries and non conformances quickly, and control engineering change through a formal management of change process.
• Lead the process hazard analysis, layer of protection review and relief system verification with the process safety engineer and third party facilitator.
• Coordinate the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation, civil and structural discipline inputs into a single coherent installed design.
• Verify utility adequacy across steam, cooling, chilled water, compressed air, process water, nitrogen, power and effluent before commissioning.
• Own the as built drawing set and confirm it is complete and accurate at handover to operations.
• Support the engineering content of regulatory and government submittals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical or process engineering.
• Twelve or more years of process plant engineering with multi discipline coordination responsibility.
• Deep working knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA, NEC and applicable Texas codes.
• Direct experience taking a design through construction, commissioning and startup.
• Comfortable making binding technical decisions in the field under schedule pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Texas PE license.
• Fermentation, biochemical, downstream purification or catalytic fixed bed reactor experience.
• Prior owner's engineer role rather than only EPC contractor experience.
