CNC Lathe Operator 2nd Shift 6 days ago Requisition ID: 1444 Salary Range: $30.00 To $36.00 Hourly The CNC Geminis Lathe Operator performs machining operations and is responsible to meet the daily production requirements. This position is dedicated to getting the job done right the first time and promotes a safe work environment focused on overall continuous improvement and world-class manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned or re‑assigned as the Manufacturing Facility expands. Operate machines in a safe manner. Use collision avoidance features on capable machines whenever possible prior to executing programs. Check tooling, setups, program coordinates, and any other information to ensure a quality part. Make all corrections as needed by editing the program. Make necessary notations for changes or corrections in the control. Provide timely information regarding problems in production that may adversely affect quality, delivery, or customer requirements. Make suggestions for further improvements in the program to shorten run times. Analyze tooling, setups, and procedures and make recommendations for improvements. Read and understand manufacturing drawings in order to classify them by part type and thickness. Load and unload heavy weldments in machines using overhead cranes and best rigging practices. Operate involves loading, unloading, and pre‑positioning of work in fixtures, and check parts for conformity with dimensional specifications by use of fixed gauges, and calipers. Remain constantly alert to detect improper machining. Troubleshoot material issues as they arise. Work as part of the team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards. Undertake continuous training and development. Other duties may be assigned as the department evolves.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Excellent experience in machine shop math. Two‑year machining technology degree preferred. CNC part and fixture setup. Be responsible for the operation of multiple pieces and types of equipment (Geminis Lathe 3‑axis CNC lathe & Geminis CNC O.D. Grinder). Read and understand blueprints. Have a clear understanding of CNC G & M codes. Follow directions/instructions step‑by‑step. Have a working knowledge of speeds, feeds, and tooling. Inspect parts visually and mechanically for conformance to the print and process dimensions. Able to operate overhead cranes and other lifting devices. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Good communication skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time. Sharp analytical and problem‑solving skills. Good verbal and presentation skills. Ability to work under pressure. Understanding of production processes with strong regard for production quality. Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Excel. Be optimistic and open to change.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Consistent attendance is expected. Flexibility to respond to troubleshooting issues. The position is predominantly shop‑floor based, with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and odors may be present.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand at least 8+ hours per day. The employee will perform machining functions for long periods of time. Vision and use of hand dexterity for computer activities.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular Full‑Time benefit eligible position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday‑Friday, 2:00pm‑10:30pm, or an approved schedule related to the needs of the role. There will also be an additional $3 an hour shift differential for second shift.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience. A person should have experience in CNC Operations, be deadline‑oriented, and be able to time‑manage with a sense of urgency. Minimum 5 years’ experience operating CNC lathe with Fanuc 31i B control. Previous experience programming with FANUC Manual Guide Eye is a plus. Experience successfully creating programs/toolpaths with Fanuc 31i B is a must. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Degree or certificate from an accredited university or technical institution. Equipment Manufacturing background. Proficiency in ERP systems. Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical equipment. Experience leading teams of operators.
