Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Intermediate Care Unit)

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate care nursing to a 30-bed unit managing patients with diagnoses including chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacer, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and Tikosyn therapy
• Monitor, read, and independently interpret telemetry strips using Nihon Kohden monitoring equipment
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitroglycerin, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• Manage radial bands and perform radial band removal; perform groin checks post-catheterization (does not include sheath pulls)
• Document and manage patient care using the Sunrise EMR system
• Float as needed to Telemetry or Med-Surg units with patient ratios up to 1:6 or occasionally 1:7 in Med-Surg

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license — any licensing history must be disclosed at time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Proficiency titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including day and night shifts, with a minimum of 3 night shifts per 4-week schedule; must be available for weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Must be flexible for holiday coverage as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an intermediate care, PCU, or stepdown unit setting
• Familiarity with Sunrise EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Experience managing patients on Tikosyn therapy and/or post-cardiac catheterization care
