Inspects, maintains, and replaces water meters, meter wells and associated equipment. Responds to customer service requests and handles complaints. Meter Technician I Pay: $19.83 per hour Meter Technician II Pay: $20.82 per hour**Minimum Qualifications:****Meter Technician I*** High School Graduation or equivalent required.* Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and acceptable driving record required* One year of experience with field service or equivalent related experience involving customer service.**Meter Technician II*** High School Graduation or equivalent required* Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and acceptable driving record required* Experience in providing exceptional customer service* One year of experience with meter reading or equivalent related experience involving customer service* Possess or obtain a Confined Space Entry Certification within six months of employment* Possess or obtain an OSHA 10 Certification within six months of employment**Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*** Knowledge of municipal water system operations* Knowledge of safety procedures for confined space* Effective communication and customer service skills* Skilled in the safe operation of motor vehicles* Ability to accurately read and record data from meter dials* Ability to read maps and follow a prescribed route and schedule* Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately* Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and water pumps* Ability to work independently and follow direction* Ability to operate a meter reading data collection device and customer information system
