About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience BLS certification ACLS certification NIHSS certification Description: The facility is a licensed teaching hospital with a Trauma Level III designation. The facility operates as a Chest Pain Center and is a Stroke Center of Excellence. It also houses a Bariatric Center of Excellence. The unit has 32 beds and supports a diverse range of patient types and common diagnoses. Patients may present with conditions such as small bowel obstructions, general surgeries, kidney stones, and fractures. The patient ratio is typically 1:4-6, with higher ratios during surge times. Required skills include tracheostomy care, chest tube management, IV starts, and wound care. Continuous patient monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation are also essential. Support within the department includes 24/7 charge nurse coverage and a resource nurse when staffing allows. Telemetry monitoring services are available remotely. Floating to other facilities within the region may be required based on operational needs. Scheduled shifts include a weekend rotation every other week, with holiday expectations of working 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. The dress code requires navy scrubs.
