This individual will work with health information data, files, and treatment data. We are seeking a candidate that would be a self-motivated, task-oriented, organized individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.Essential Functions Plans, organizes, and participates in the compilation, preparation and maintenance of statistical, program, medical records, and reports which reflect a complete treatment, training and health information history of the individual in custody. Directs and prepares the gathering of health information data. Reviews and interprets the Department of Correction's Health Care Services recommendations and policies concerning recording methods and procedures. Serves as working supervisor. Conducts in-service training programs pertaining to confidentiality of and proper procedures for keeping records. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Pathway 1:Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college and certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Plus, one year of professional experience in a health information records facility; ORPathway 2:Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of high school, completion of an approved medical records training program plus certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Plus, five years of progressively responsible experience as an RHIT in management of a medical records program.Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least one (1) year supervisory experience. Prefers at least one (1) year working with statistical reports. Prefers at least one (1) year working with medical complaints. Prefers at least one (1) year working with medical contracts. Prefers at least one (1) year working with performance evaluations. Prefers at least one (1) year keeping and preparing medical records. Prefers at least one (1) year maintaining confidentiality in a medical setting. Prefers at least one (1) year working with health information records. Prefers at least one (1) year working with individuals' insurance, social security, and discharge summaries. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check. Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited. Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
