ABOUT PALM PETROL

Palm Petrol is a new elevated service station and neighborhood market coming to Palm Beach, Florida. Inspired by destinations such as The Depot in Yountville and The Station in St. Helena, Palm Petrol will combine the convenience of a traditional service station with the quality, hospitality, and merchandising of a thoughtfully curated specialty market.

In addition to traditional convenience items such as beverages, snacks, and everyday essentials, Palm Petrol will offer elevated grab-and-go and prepared foods, wine, cheese, specialty grocery items, gifts, and other carefully selected products.

Our goal is to create a beautiful, welcoming neighborhood destination that delivers exceptional convenience without sacrificing quality, presentation, or service.

THE ROLE

Palm Petrol is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the neighborhood market and help establish the operating culture of the that part of the business from its grand opening.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands that a successful store is built through excellent people, disciplined operations, thoughtful merchandising, strong financial controls, and outstanding customer service.

The General Manager will have responsibility for the overall performance of Palm Petrol, including staffing, training, scheduling, inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, food and beverage operations, customer service, store presentation, safety, insurance coordination, and operating procedures.

As an early member of the Palm Petrol team, the General Manager will also play an important role in establishing systems, standards, and procedures that can support the business as it grows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Store Operations & Leadership

• Take ownership of the day-to-day operation and performance of the Palm Petrol market.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and develop store employees.
• Establish a culture of professionalism, hospitality, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and labor costs.
• Develop and maintain operating procedures, opening/closing protocols, and management controls.

Food, Beverage & Merchandising

• Oversee grab-and-go and prepared-food operations with a strong emphasis on quality, freshness, presentation, and consistency.
• Maintain appropriate food safety, sanitation, storage, and handling standards.
• Manage merchandising and presentation across grocery, beverages, wine, cheese, gifts, prepared foods, and traditional convenience products.
• Monitor product performance and continuously refine the assortment based on customer demand and profitability.
• Work with ownership and vendors to identify distinctive products appropriate for the Palm Beach

customer.

Inventory & Purchasing

• Manage inventory levels, purchasing, receiving, storage, and inventory controls.
• Develop strong relationships with food, beverage, grocery, gift, and other suppliers.
• Monitor shrinkage, waste, spoilage, and product expiration.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records, and assist with monthly cost of good sold.
• Ensure the store remains appropriately stocked without unnecessary over-ordering.

Financial & Administrative Management

• Manage store-level budgets and operating expenses.
• Monitor sales, margins, labor costs, inventory costs, and other key performance indicators.
• Review daily and weekly sales and identify opportunities to improve performance.
• Establish accounts with vendors to avoid COD purchases.
• Oversee cash controls, deposits, point-of-sale procedures, invoices, and vendor payments in coordination with ownership/accounting.
• Coordinate payroll, permits, licensing, compliance, and other administrative requirements.

Customer Experience

• Create a consistently warm, polished, and welcoming customer experience.
• Build relationships with local residents and repeat customers.
• Personally address customer concerns and ensure issues are resolved quickly and professionally.
• Maintain exceptionally high standards for cleanliness, organization, presentation, and service.
• Understand that Palm Petrol should feel as much like a hospitality business as a convenience store.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for an experienced operator who enjoys being on the floor, leading a team, interacting with customers, and taking ownership of a business.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of retail, specialty grocery, market, hospitality, or food-and-beverage management experience.
• Experience managing a high-quality retail or hospitality operation.
• Previous responsibility for staffing, scheduling, payroll, inventory, purchasing, and vendor management.
• Food and beverage experience, particularly prepared foods, specialty grocery, café, gourmet market, or similar concepts.
• Strong understanding of inventory controls, margins, waste, labor management, and store-level profitability.
• Experience recruiting, training, and managing hourly employees.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and high standards for presentation and cleanliness.
• A genuine hospitality mindset and comfort interacting with a discerning customer base.
• Ability to solve problems independently and take ownership rather than waiting for direction.

Experience with wine, specialty foods, gourmet markets, luxury retail, or upscale hospitality is particularly attractive.
