Overview A law firm seeks a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney in Kansas City, MO. Responsibilities Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony matters in Missouri and Kansas courts. Manage a full caseload from intake through resolution, including trial preparation. Analyze cases strategically and execute effective defense plans. Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda with precision and efficiency. Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials. Negotiate with prosecutors and manage case progression effectively. Maintain organized case files and ensure timely movement of matters. Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support workflow and operational goals. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Licensed and in good standing in Missouri and/or Kansas (additional jurisdictions a plus). 1–3 years of criminal defense, prosecution, or comparable litigation experience. Demonstrated strong work ethic and a high level of accountability. Ability to manage a demanding caseload with efficiency and attention to detail. Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presence. Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills. Professional judgment and ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment. Fluency in Spanish is very desirable.
