Registered Nurse Telemetry

Overview Department: Telemetry Shift’s Available: Days Employment Type: Full-Time Hours: 7:00am-7:00pm (12-hour shifts) Location: Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS We are seeking a Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN), sometimes referred to as a Telemetry RN or Tele RN . A Tele RN specializing in attending to patients with in our telemetry units, including those needing cardiac monitoring. The Tele RN will monitor and interpret our patient's vital signs, such as heart rate, heart rhythm, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation level. Continuous monitoring of patients , by the Telemetry RN enables gather ing real-time data to make informed decisions regarding patient care, ensuring early detection of abnormalities or changes in the patient's condition. Responsibilities Recognizes signs of abuse and reports appropriately to the hospital social worker and/or Adult / Child Protective Services. Familiar with the EMTALA Regulations. Responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts, mobilization, and shall participate as needed in patient handling. Attends and maintains mandatory training in safe patient handling, trained in safe lifting techniques, includes but not limited to 1) Appropriate use of lifting devices and equipment, 2) Five areas of body exposure: vertical, lateral, bariatric repositioning and ambulation, 3) Use of lifting devices to handle patients safely. Uses professional judgment and clinical assessment in safe patient handling that are consistent with Safe Patient Handling policies. Uses two patient identifiers consistently when drawing lab, administering medications and performing procedures. Follows medication reconciliation policy consistently. Does not use unacceptable abbreviations in documentation (uses read back on all telephone orders.) Monitors authentication and validation of telephone orders within 24 hours by the physician. Ensures consistently that all clinical alarms, i.e. cardiac monitors are set with the appropriate parameters for the patient and are audible at all times. Qualifications Current and valid state RN License. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred. Ventilator Management experience preferred. Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
