Assistant Controller

Ascension Search Partners is working with a growing investment firm seeking a Senior Fund Accounting / Assistant Controller to play a key role within its internal fund accounting team. This is a highly visible opportunity for an experienced fund accountant who enjoys operating in a lean environment, taking ownership of critical processes, and partnering closely with senior leadership. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day fund accounting operations and month-end processes. Review fund NAVs, valuations, investor reporting, and key accounting deliverables. Serve as a primary contact for fund administrators, auditors, tax providers, and other external partners. Review and approve complex management fees, performance fees, and allocations. Manage audit and tax-related processes, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables. Provide guidance and review of work completed by junior team members and external accounting support resources. Partner with accounting, operations, legal, compliance, and other internal stakeholders. Requirements CPA required. 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong fund accounting experience, ideally within hedge funds. Experience working with fund administrators, auditors, and third-party service providers.
