Assistant Olympic Strength & Conditioning Coach (HR title: Strength Coach)

Salary Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position Overview The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will play a pivotal role in a high‑level Division I department, working with soccer, 1‑2 Olympic sports, and leading the Olympic strength and conditioning science initiative. The role requires proficiency in Olympic‑based strength training movements, load monitoring, exercise science modalities, and programming of speed, plyometrics, agility, and conditioning. Essential Functions Design, organize, implement, and oversee strength and conditioning programs for assigned Olympic sport teams and develop comprehensive, research‑driven training protocols that align with Olympic Human Performance philosophy. Collect and disseminate sport science key performance indicators (KPIs) for designated teams and the Olympic Sports Performance department. Work collaboratively with Athletics Department support services and campus constituents such as Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Team Physicians, Sports Nutrition, and Mental Health. Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, institutional, and industry guidelines and protect the safety and well‑being of student‑athletes. Provide training instruction and ensure safe use of strength‑training equipment; maintain facilities and maintain education units in CPR and AED. Provide basic nutrition counseling in conjunction with sports nutrition staff and assist in injury prevention and education. Collaborate with sports medicine staff on injury management, lifting modifications, return‑to‑play protocols, and maintain communication with athletes, staff, and coaches. Attend practice and games to provide warm‑up, cool‑down, and monitor programs. Work regular evening and weekend hours; occasional travel for road competitions when required. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Preferred fields: Kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, health sciences, or related field. Minimum of one year of experience required; full‑time collegiate or professional sports performance/strength‑and‑conditioning experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills across university constituencies. Strong problem‑solving, organizational, planning, and time‑management skills. Must be First‑Aid/CPR/AED certified and certified CSCS or SCCC. Preference for experience with TeamWorks, Microsoft Office, sports science dashboards, athlete monitoring systems, and sports science modalities. Physical and Environmental Demands Sit for long periods. Bend, crawl, carry/lift over 50 lb. Squat, climb, handle objects, kneel, stand, push/pull. Exposure to excessive noise.
