Job Title: Plant Manager Job Description
The Plant Manager leads all manufacturing and maintenance activities at the Phoenix facility to ensure high-quality products are delivered to customers on time while meeting company goals and objectives. This role oversees daily plant operations, directs and develops employees, and drives continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, and cost performance across the facility.
Responsibilities- Lead and foster a positive, collaborative work environment that reflects the company’s values and encourages teamwork across all departments.
- Provide clear direction, authority, and mentorship to direct reports to ensure accountability for key performance metrics, including setting expectations, training, and implementing improvement plans with defined timelines.
- Maximize efficiency within all direct departments by identifying, analyzing, and eliminating waste in processes, workflows, and resource utilization.
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team, including conducting performance assessments, enforcing company policies, and administering disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Coordinate and plan workflow throughout the manufacturing facility by reviewing the availability of workers, materials, and machines to meet production requirements and expedite orders as needed.
- Utilize the MRP system to create, manipulate, and review production-related requirements such as bills of materials (BOMs), routings, job orders, and inventory records.
- Collaborate with colleagues, technicians, and management to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance manufacturing processes and overall company performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production facility that remains in a ‘tour ready’ condition at all times.
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards and processes, including process documentation and compliance with established procedures.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles, such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, and value stream mapping, to improve throughput, reduce defects, and optimize plant performance.
- Monitor and influence plant financial performance, including contributing to P&L-related decisions and cost control initiatives.
- Support cross-functional communication with sales, engineering, tooling, quality, and other departments to align production activities with business needs.
- Assist with intermediate maintenance and mechanical equipment troubleshooting to minimize downtime and support reliable operations.
- Use computer systems, including MS Office and MRP software, to track performance, prepare reports, and support data-driven decision making.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by leadership to fulfill the responsibilities of the position and support the overall success of the facility.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably engineering, and/or at least 5 years of operations or plant experience.
- Manufacturing experience with strong processing knowledge, ideally in plastics and converting environments.
- Demonstrated plant management or operations management experience with proven leadership capabilities.
- Experience with lean manufacturing methodologies, including continuous improvement practices such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, and value stream mapping.
- Proficiency in using an MRP system for managing production requirements, including BOMs, routings, job orders, and inventory.
- Solid understanding of quality assurance principles, quality control practices, and process documentation.
- Intermediate maintenance and mechanical equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and technical documentation.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of leading, mentoring, and training employees to build high-performing teams.
- Self-starter with an organized, results-oriented approach and the ability to work independently.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with MRP software.
- Effective cross-functional communication skills to collaborate with sales, engineering, tooling, quality, and other teams.
- Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Physical ability to work on feet for the entirety of a shift, including standing, bending, walking, lifting, and carrying materials as required.
- Ability to lift materials or tooling weighing up to 50 lbs and push or cart material weighing up to approximately 1,800 lbs.
- Capacity to maintain focus and attention to detail while performing production and supervisory tasks.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing and converting processes is preferred.
- Familiarity with equipment commonly used in manufacturing environments and the ability to apply equipment knowledge in daily operations.
- Experience applying Six Sigma methodologies and holding a Black Belt or similar continuous improvement credential is beneficial.
- Experience managing or contributing to P&L performance and cost optimization within a plant environment.
- Demonstrated aptitude for using handheld tools and working safely around production equipment.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new skills and technologies through training.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trust, motivate teams, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a manufacturing facility with standard office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. While manufacturing operations run Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Plant Manager maintains a consistent weekday schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The environment includes active production areas where standing, bending, walking, lifting, and moving materials are part of daily activities. The facility expects the production floor to remain clean, organized, and ‘tour ready’ at all times. Work involves regular use of manufacturing equipment, handheld tools, and computer systems such as MS Office and MRP software. The role requires physical stamina and adherence to safety practices while working in a dynamic, fast-paced plant setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
